City of Russellville and Pope County Issue Proclamations

Kicking off Memorial Day weekend Mayor Fred Teague and Pope County Judge Ben Cross issued proclamations supporting theSemi-quincentennial celebration of America at the Russellville Chamber of Commerce office on Friday.The United States of America will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4th, 2026. Governor Sarah Hucakbee Sanders presented an Arkansas 250 flag to the Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Arkansas250 Commission. Many activities and a firework celebration will be hosted July 3rd& 4thin downtown Russellville.

Downtown banners from Russellville Tourism were recently hung to commemorate the 250thanniversary and a limited number of window clings are being offered to local businesses free of charge at the Chamber Office at 708 West Main Street.

“Russellville is proud to join communities across the nation in celebrating America’s 250th birthday this July 4th. This historic milestone is a wonderful opportunity for our residents and visitors to come together, honor our nation’s heritage, and create lasting memories with family and friends. We are incredibly excited to see our community celebrate such a meaningful and exciting event right here in Russellville as we have some new and exciting events that will happen on July 3rd,” statedChristie Graham Tourism Director for Russellville.

Angela Bonds, Chief Community Development Officer for the Russellville Chamber of Commerce commented, “America’s 250th is more than a celebration of years — it’s a celebration of the courage, unity, and freedom that continue to shape our nation’s story. For two and a half centuries, generations of Americans have worked, sacrificed, and dreamed to build a brighter future. As we honor this milestone, we also look ahead with hope, pride, and a renewed commitment to the ideals that bring us together.”
