Since it was incorporated in 1870, the city of Russellville, Arkansas, has functioned under the mayor-city council form of government. The mayor is elected to a four-year term, with each of the city’s eight aldermen elected to two-year terms. The eight aldermen represent four wards with two aldermen per ward. Pope County is the 13th largest populated county in the State of Arkansas. It is located in the Arkansas River Valley, midway between Little Rock and Fort Smith.
