Established in 1958 by Charles Oates and Dale Walker, this historic pharmacy has been a cornerstone of downtown Russellville for over 60 years What started as a small business venture became a part of Russellville's history, thanks to the dedication of its founders and their families.

Charles and Dale, the founders, were not just entrepreneurs; they were stewards of tradition, choosing to maintain the pharmacy's downtown location. Their families, including Jean Oates and Evelyn Walker, carried on their legacy, and now Roy Dean (R.D.) and Johnna Walker continue their mission.

Last year, C & D Drug Store was recognized as the best pharmacy in the Courier's "Best of the Best" awards—a testament to the trust and admiration it has earned from the community. However, accolades aside, it's the unwavering dedication to customer care is what keeps them thriving.

C & D Drug Store preserves the history of its building while embracing modern technology. “We love the historic location with the original ceilings and brick exterior, but we also use state of the art pharmacy computer software and drug verification systems to maintain the highest level of safety and convenience,” said R D Walker.

With a team of 18 dedicated staff members, many of whom are Arkansas Tech students and alumni, the pharmacy embodies the spirit of community. Several employees have been part of the C & D family for over two decades

In an era dominated by large chain pharmacies, C & D Drug Store shines as a symbol of hope for small businesses. “We have been able to adapt quickly to the ever-changing healthcare landscape and offer services beneficial to the community. Being able to offer Covid-19 vaccinations early in the pandemic is one example,” R D Walker stated.

Looking ahead, C & D remains committed to it residents, ensuring a bright future for the Russellville community. “We look forward to the future of pharmacy and hope to continue serving the River Valley and family business for years to come,” affirmed R D Walker.
