With so much natural beauty, Russellville is the perfect place for your outdoor adventure. In addition to the Arkansas River and Lake Dardanelle, this part of the Natural State is known for the three mountain peaks located here- Mount Nebo, Petit Jean Mountain, and Mount Magazine. You are only a few steps away from an up-close and personal experience with nature, whether hiking to the waterfall on Petit Jean Mountain or boating on Lake Dardanelle.
The Arkansas River winds its way through Russellville between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains providing stunning vistas and many recreational opportunities. There is abundant wildlife to enjoy and some of the best bass fishing in the state. Even non-anglers enjoy the aquarium and other features of the Visitor’s Center at Lake Dardanelle State Park. Just south of Russellville, the Dardanelle Lock and Dam is located on the Arkansas River. This dam allowed Lake Dardanelle to be created. This 35,000-acre lake is known for competition and pleasure fishing, boating, skiing and more.
Lake Dardanelle State Park and Old Post Road Park together offer boat access ramps, fishing piers with handicap accessibility, 332 campsites, cabins, marina and boat repair, and putt-putt golf. Bona Dea Trails and Wildlife Sanctuary offers over six miles of walking and jogging trails through 186 acres of natural wildlife habitat. Holla Bend Natural Wildlife Refuge located to the south of Russellville is one of the state's most popular areas for viewing and photographing wildlife. With over 6,300 acres, Holla Bend Refuge provides a natural habitat for over 150 species of birds, including migratory waterfowl. The Ozark National Forest to our north has many recreational areas for camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and floating. There is also, what is perhaps the only bayou in the country that features whitewater. Russellville's fourteen city parks and the Hughes Community Center offer numerous activities such as lighted tennis courts, lighted baseball and softball fields, a new soccer complex, an Olympic-size swimming pool, basketball court, and equipped playgrounds. There are also three golf courses located in the area. As you can see, recreational opportunities are available year-round.
We have RV facilities, cabins, and 18 hotels with over 1100 rooms available to accommodate you. Located halfway between Fort Smith and Little Rock, we are minutes from just about everything you would want to do.
